Located on the eastern shore of Maryland, Schauber's Lumber has been serving the east coast of the United States and other areas nationwide for the last 35 years. We are proud to be a supplier of quality hardwood products which are utilized in construction and industrial applications. Our products include crane mats, industrial timbers, lagging lumber, and a variety of surfacing and custom sawn materials.

Francis E. Schauber

Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Schauber has been a professional in the lumber industry for the last 35 years. He originally founded the business to further his needs as an owner of a historic wooden sailboat which required a steady supply of lumber. The company has grown steadily since it's founding thanks to the brilliant leadership of it's owners, Francis and Suzy Schauber of Chestertown, Maryland.

Mrs. Ormsby joined our business team 9 years ago after working for RCO Lumber Company, a pallet mill, for over 24 years. She fulfills the role as lead salesperson as well as being the communcations hub for the entire business.

Dan Schauber has been a member of our team for over 15 years and is the contact point for direct yard relations, purchasing, advertising, and any technical support. He recently graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Computer and Network Security and plans to leave the business within the next year.

Schauber's Lumber and Sawmill, Inc. was founded in 1977. The mill was purchased and updated with an eye toward the coming century by Francis and Evelyn Schauber. After starting with a base of only 4 employees the company has matured into a small business which supports 18 employees and their families. We are a rough cut circular sawmill which produces diversified hardwood materials for use in retail and industrial applications. Our goal at Schauber's is to supply a superior product while maintaining a curteous and professional atmosphere. The business is also on the National Historic Register as home of the Sailing Log Canoe "Mystery", the reason why the mill was originally founded.

Hardwood Crane Mats

Hardwood Crane Mats
Schauber's Lumber constructs crane, dragline, bridge, pipeline, outrigger, and road mats. Our mats are built from dense hardwood material and sealed on the end to reduce any unwanted decay due to exposure of the heart material. Schauber's mats find application in the marine, mining, construction, and environmental industries. Our setup allows us to manufacture mats with custom thickness, width, and a length not to exceed 40'. For more information please fill out the request form on our Contact page.

Industrial Timbers

Industrial Timbers
Schauber's Lumber mills variable sized timbers for use in industrial projects. A majority of these timbers are used in bridge, marine, and urban construction projects. Customers may specify species and grade of the timbers when placing an order. We have the ability to outsource the final dressing of any orders with local companies. Lagging Material

Lagging Material
The lagging material we manufacture is used primarily as shoring and framing in construction projects. These projects include pipeline, sewer, foundation, bridge, road, and mining projects up and down the east coast. If you'de like more information just use the information on our Contact page.

Custom Orders
Schauber's Lumber has the ability to manufacture lumber products at a variety of sizes. We fulfill custom orders for trailer boards, fencing, shelving, barn siding, and other projects. Surfacing Materials

Surfacing Materials
PlayFiber is used as natural playground matting. It has been tested for head impact and wheelchair accessability. It can also be used for wooded roads or paths and stabalizes soil while protecting root systems.The mulch Schauber's Lumber produces is wonderful for local businesses and others in the community for landscaping purposes. Sawdust is used as animal bedding by many farms in the area or for absorbtion on industrial projects.For further information use our Contact form.

Blocking and Firewood

Blocking and Firewood

Schauber's Lumber produces blocking material for many marinas and boat yards. This same blocking material can be used as cribbing for temporary support situations.

Our firewood is slab from the end of trimmed bundles or timbers. We sell it per 1000/lbs to local customers as a heat source.
